Tokyo Core Consumer Prices Rise 2.2 Pct in Nov.

   Tokyo, Nov. 29 (Jiji Press)--The core consumer price index for Tokyo's densely populated 23 wards in November rose 2.2 pct from a year before, growing for the 39th consecutive month, the Japanese internal affairs ministry said Friday.
   The pace of increase in electricity and city gas fees accelerated as the government scaled down its subsidies. Rice prices logged their steepest-ever gain.
   The core CPI, which excludes volatile fresh food prices, stood at 108.3 against the 2020 base of 100.
   Electricity fees jumped 9.7 pct, following a 4.0 pct increase in October. City gas charges rose 6.9 pct after growing 1.8 pct.
   Prices for food excluding fresh food were up 4.0 pct. Rice prices soared 62.8 pct following a 62.3 pct jump in October.
