Japan Real Wages Flat in Oct.

Tokyo, Dec. 6 (Jiji Press)--Japan's inflation-adjusted real wage index in October was nearly unchanged from a year before after falling for two months in a row, the labor ministry said Friday.
Nominal wages per worker increased 2.6 pct, up for the 34th consecutive month, reflecting pay hikes agreed in this year's "shunto" spring wage negotiations and higher minimum wages.
The consumer price index excluding imputed rent, used to calculate the real wage index, was up 2.6 pct, with the pace of growth slowing from 2.9 pct in September partly due to government subsidies aimed at curbing electricity and gas bills.
The average nominal wage for full-time workers grew 2.6 pct to 374,654 yen and that for part-timers gained 3.3 pct to 109,806 yen.
Real wages "may go up temporarily in December thanks to bonuses," a ministry official said.
