Only 22 Pct in Japan Hope to Visit Osaka Expo

Tokyo, March 13 (Jiji Press)--Only 22 pct of people in Japan hope to visit the World Exposition in the western city of Osaka, a Jiji Press survey showed Thursday.
Meanwhile, 65.3 pct of respondents said they do not want to go to the event, which starts on April 13. The results show that public interest in the event remains low even as the opening approaches.
As sales of advance Expo tickets have been sluggish, efforts are underway to turn the situation around. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has decided the introduction of same-day tickets.
The interview survey was conducted on 2,000 people aged 18 or older across the country over the four days through Monday. Valid responses came from 59.3 pct.
