(Update) Japan Confirms N. Korean Ballistic Missile Launch

   Tokyo/Seoul, May 8 (Jiji Press)--Japan's Defense Ministry has confirmed a ballistic missile launch by North Korea on Thursday.
   Earlier in the day, the South Korean military announced that North Korea fired several projectiles that appeared to be short-range ballistic missiles from the eastern city of Wonsan toward the Sea of Japan around 8:10 a.m. local time.
   Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba instructed his government to do its utmost to gather and analyze information in order to provide his country's citizens with accurate information swiftly, ensure the safety of aircrafts and vessels and take all precautions in case of a contingency.
   The last time North Korea went ahead with a ballistic missile launch was on March 10.
   The South Korean military said that it shares related information with Japan and the United States to maintain their preparedness.
