8 Firms Form Alliance for Self-Driving Auto Development

   New York, Oct. 8 (Jiji Press)--Eight Japanese, U.S. and European companies said Tuesday that they have established a business alliance to work on computer system development related to self-driving vehicles.
   The Autonomous Vehicle Computing Consortium, which includes Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. <7203>, U.S. auto giant General Motors Co. and British semiconductor designer ARM Holdings PLC, affiliated with Softbank Group Corp. <9984>, hopes to accelerate the commercialization of self-driving vehicles by putting together their expertise and technologies.
