FamilyMart to Allow Stores to Operate for Shorter Hours

   Tokyo, Nov. 14 (Jiji Press)--Japanese convenience store chain FamilyMart Co. <8028> said Thursday that it will allow franchise stores to operate for shorter hours in a shift from its 24-hour operation policy amid a serious labor shortage.
   The company will revise the terms of franchise contracts to allow stores to halt late-night operations, starting in March next year. The new initiative will cover about 15,000 stores, or almost all the firm's franchisees across the country.
