(Update) S'tomo Mitsui Trust Mishandles Shareholder Votes for 975 Firms

   Tokyo, Sept. 24 (Jiji Press)--Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank said Thursday it has made errors in the tallying of votes for general shareholder meetings entrusted by 975 publicly traded corporate clients in Japan.
   Its group appears to have failed to count some voting cards for about 20 years, leaving these votes not reflected in the results of balloting.
