Japan Firms to Step Up Coronavirus Measures under Emergency

   Tokyo, Jan. 7 (Jiji Press)--Japanese companies are ready to beef up their countermeasures against the novel coronavirus as the government on Thursday declared a fresh state of emergency for the Tokyo metropolitan area over the epidemic.
   Many companies will promote remote work and encourage commuting employees to return home by 8 p.m. while calling on workers to refrain from gathering over meals and making business trips.
