KDDI to Launch 2,480-Yen 20GB Plan in March

Tokyo, Jan. 12 (Jiji Press)--KDDI Corp. <9433> plans to introduce a new 20-gigabyte smartphone plan for 2,480 yen a month in March, the cheapest of all such plans offered by major wireless firms in Japan, informed sources said Tuesday.
KDDI's new plan will be 500 yen cheaper than comparable plans announced in December by rivals SoftBank Corp. <9434> and NTT Docomo Inc. <9437>. These plans come in response to the government's request for cuts in mobile phone charges.
