(Update) Sanyo Shokai Admits Use of Xinjiang Cotton

   Tokyo, April 14 (Jiji Press)--Major Japanese apparel firm Sanyo Shokai Ltd. <8011> said Wednesday that it has confirmed the use of cotton produced in Xinjiang in its products under multiple brands.
   "From the viewpoint of corporate social responsibility, we'd like to consider using alternative materials if we judge (the use of the cotton) to be inappropriate," amid growing concerns over human rights abuses in China's Xinjiang Uighur autonomous region, Sanyo Shokai President Shinji Oe told a news conference.
