FamilyMart Logs 1st Net Loss Since 2016 Merger

   Tokyo, April 14 (Jiji Press)--Major Japanese convenience store operator FamilyMart Co. <8028> has suffered the first annual net loss since its merger with industry peer Uny Group Holdings Co. in 2016, due to the impact of the spread of the novel coronavirus.
   For the business year that ended in February, FamilyMart logged a group net loss of 16.4 billion yen. Its sales fell 8.5 pct from the previous year to 473.3 billion yen, down for the second consecutive year, while its operating profit rose 10.4 pct to 71.2 billion yen.
