JR Tokai Sees 1.5-T.-Yen Rise in Maglev Train Costs

   Nagoya, April 27 (Jiji Press)--Central Japan Railway Co. <9022>, or JR Tokai, said Tuesday that it expects a 1.5-trillion-yen rise in costs to build its planned superfast magnetically levitated Shinkansen train line between Tokyo and Nagoya.
   The construction costs for the section between the Japanese capital and the central Japan city will balloon to 7.04 trillion yen partly because of additional measures to boost earthquake resistance.
