5 Major Japan Banks' Net Profit Up for 1st Time in 3 Years

   Tokyo, May 17 (Jiji Press)--The combined consolidated net profit of five major Japanese banking groups in the year ended in March rose 1.6 pct from the previous year to 2,027.5 billion yen, the first increase in three years.
   The growth came as core banking operations generally stayed solid throughout the year, although loan loss reserves increased amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
