Hitachi Sets Higher Target on Decarbonization

   Tokyo, Sept. 13 (Jiji Press)--Hitachi Ltd. <6501> on Monday launched a new target for reducing carbon dioxide emissions from its entire value chain including production and procurement to virtually zero by fiscal 2050, compared with the previous goal of cutting emissions by 80 pct from the fiscal 2010 level.
   To achieve the new target, the Japanese electronics and machinery group will map out emissions reduction plans with some 800 major suppliers, which account for 70 pct of the group's total procurement value, company officials said.
