Ito-Yokado to Test New Pricing System to Reduce Food Loss

   Tokyo, Jan. 11 (Jiji Press)--Japanese supermarket chain Ito-Yokado Co. and six partner companies said Tuesday that they will test a new price labeling system using electronic cards, aiming to reduce the amount of out-of-date food items being thrown out at stores.
   The new price labeling system will allow stores to apply different amounts of discount to the same product depending on their expiration dates more easily and frequently, freeing staff from a burdensome task of changing price stickers and price cards by hand.
