Japan Average Pump Price Drops on Subsidies
Tokyo, May 11 (Jiji Press)--The average retail price of regular gasoline in Japan as of Monday fell 1.7 yen from the previous April 25 survey to 171.1 yen per liter, the industry ministry said Wednesday.
The government's subsidies to oil wholesalers, expanded at the end of April, contributed to the decline, which happened even though crude oil prices remained high amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
