Dollar Briefly Tops 109 Yen in Seesaw Tokyo Session

   Tokyo, Jan. 8 (Jiji Press)--The dollar briefly exceeded 109 yen in seesaw Tokyo trading Tuesday, backed in part by hopes for a successful end to the ongoing U.S.-China trade talks.
   At 5 p.m., the dollar stood at 108.96-97 yen, up from 108.17-17 yen at the same time on Monday. The euro was at 1.1443-1444 dollars, up from 1.1436-1437 dollars, and at 124.70-71 yen, up from 123.72-72 yen.
