Nikkei Soars to Retake 18,000 for 1st Time in Some 2 Weeks

   Tokyo, March 24 (Jiji Press)--The benchmark Nikkei stock average surged more than 1,200 points to retake 18,000 for the first time in some two weeks on Tuesday, as wide-ranging stocks attracted buybacks.
   The Nikkei average of 225 selected issues listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed at 18,092.35, up 1,204.57 points, or 7.13 pct, after climbing 334.95 points Monday. The index last finished above the psychologically important threshold on March 12.
