10 Years On: Staff Members of Secretariat for Nuclear Regulation Authority in Tokyo's Minato Ward Listen to NRA Chairman Toyoshi Fuketa's Online Speech Expressing His Determination to Prevent 'Nuclear Plant Safety Myth' from Reviving


     The 9.0-magnitude earthquake and subsequent monster tsunami waves on March 11 2011 severely damaged Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant. A breakdown of cooling systems left nuclear reactors overheating, resulting in core meltdowns. The accident and suspension of other plants in the quake-hit areas have caused serious power supply shortages in various parts of eastern Japan including Tokyo.
