Drone-Like Object Disrupts Kansai Airport Operations Again

Osaka, Nov. 9 (Jiji Press)--An object that appeared to be a drone was found flying near a runway of Kansai International Airport on Saturday morning, forcing the airport in western Japan to temporarily suspend all takeoffs and landings.
This was the third time that a possible drone spotted at the airport in the city of Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture, has caused flight disruptions there. The previous cases occurred on Oct. 19 and Thursday.
On Saturday, the airport halted all takeoffs and landings for some 80 minutes from around 8:10 a.m. (11:10 p.m. Friday GMT).
According to the airport's operator, Kansai Airports, an airport staff member, while working on the ground level, saw the drone-like object flying near the runway shortly past 8 a.m.
Due to the runway closure, some flights were diverted to other airports. Takeoffs and landings were resumed at around 9:30 a.m.
