Tokyo, March 26 (Jiji Press)--Forty-seven people have been newly confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus in Tokyo, hitting a new high in the daily number of new cases in the Japanese capital for the fourth straight day, the metropolitan government said Thursday.
The number of new infections in Tokyo rose from 17 on Tuesday and 41 on Wednesday. The capital's total jumped to 259 on Thursday, much higher than in any other prefecture in the country.

Of the 47 new cases, 10 are linked to Eiju General Hospital in Taito Ward, where a group infection is suspected. Six involved people who traveled abroad recently. Infection routes are unknown in 24 cases.
Keio University Hospital in Shinjuku Ward said that four male inpatients in their 70s to 80s have been found positive for the coronavirus.
