INTERVIEW: Japan Foreign Minister Urges China to Fulfill Big Country's Role

   Tokyo, Nov. 25 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said Thursday he will work so China will "fulfill its responsibilities as a large country."
   He made the remark in response to a question in an interview with media organizations including Jiji Press about what Japan should do while the United States and China are at odds.
   On whether Japan will send a diplomatic delegation to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Hayashi said "nothing has been decided yet" and that a decision will be made at "an appropriate timing through comprehensive discussions."
   Meanwhile, he showed willingness to strengthen the Japan-U.S. alliance's deterrent and response capabilities by "drastically reinforcing our self-defense posture and expanding roles we can play."
   The alliance "continues to be the axis of our country's diplomacy and security," he pointed out.
