Fuji TV Parent Announces 3rd-Party Probe over Nakai Scandal

Tokyo, Jan. 23 (Jiji Press)--Fuji Media Holdings Inc., the parent of Fuji Television Network Inc., said Thursday that it has decided to set up a third-party committee to investigate a sex scandal centered around television personality Masahiro Nakai.
The panel, to be established based on guidelines by the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, is slated to submit an investigative report by around the end of March.
Fuji Television will hold a press conference in an "open format" Monday afternoon. The broadcaster was criticized for a lack of transparency in an earlier press briefing.
"We will work to investigate the matter so that we can be accountable to the questions and concerns of viewers and sponsors," lawyer Akira Takeuchi, who will head the committee, said.
A Fuji Television employee was reportedly involved in the scandal.
