   Jiji Press sets and abides by basic guidelines on the protection of personal information as described below. In fields exempted from obligations under the Private Information Protection Law, such as news gathering and reporting as well as writing, Jiji Press sets separate guidelines to protect personal information.

1. Jiji Press abides by relevant laws, ordinances and internal rules;
2. Jiji Press obtains personal information in an appropriate manner after disclosing its purposes for gathering the information;
3. Jiji Press does not use obtained personal information beyond the scope of the disclosed purposes;
4. Jiji Press makes efforts to keep personal information accurate and updated to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of its use;
5. Jiji Press implements appropriate measures to prevent personal information from being leaked, lost or damaged;
6. Jiji Press supervises its employees appropriately in order to ensure the secure management of personal information and provides them with the necessary education and training;
7. In the event Jiji Press consigns an outside entity to manage obtained personal information, Jiji Press will select an entity with an appropriate level of information protection capability and supervise the entity in an appropriate manner;
8. Jiji Press, in principle, does not provide third parties with obtained personal information without obtaining the consent of information providers; and,
9. Jiji Press deals promptly and properly with requests from personal information providers for information disclosure, correction, addition, or deletion to a rational extent upon confirmation of their identities.

2. Jiji Press obtains personal information in socially justifiable and proper ways;
3. Jiji Press endeavors to keep obtained personal data accurate and updated to the extent necessary for news reporting or writing;
4. Jiji Press, in principle, does not use for other purposes personal information obtained for news reporting or writing;
5. Jiji Press faithfully responds to information sources' complaints and requests regarding the handling of personal information; and,
6. Jiji Press implements thorough measures to prevent obtained personal information from being leaked to outsiders.
