Japan Real Wages Down for 4th Straight Month in April
Tokyo, June 5 (Jiji Press)--Real wages in Japan fell for the fourth consecutive month in April as wage growth failed to outpace inflation amid soaring prices of food such as rice, government data showed Thursday.
The inflation-adjusted real wage index declined 1.8 pct from a year before, the labor ministry said in a preliminary report.
Nominal wages per worker, which include regular and nonregular pay, rose 2.3 pct to 302,453 yen, up for the 40th consecutive month.
