(Update 2) Takarazuka Revue Apologizes for Power Harassment

Toyonaka, Osaka Pref., March 28 (Jiji Press)--Japanese musical theater company Takarazuka Revue and its owner on Thursday apologized to the bereaved family of a member who died suddenly last year for power harassment against her, the companies said.
The all-female theater company, based in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, and Hankyu Hanshin Holdings Inc. concluded an agreement with the bereaved family acknowledging 14 cases of power harassment against the deceased member, the companies said.
Hankyu Hanshin Chairman and Group CEO Kazuo Sumi apologized to the bereaved family when the two sides signed the agreement. A letter of apology written by a senior Takarazuka Revue member who was involved in the power harassment was handed to the bereaved family. The Takarazuka Revue side plans to pay compensation to the family.
"Full responsibility lies with the theater company," Hankyu Hanshin President Yasuo Shimada said at a press conference in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture. "We are deeply remorseful."
The agreement between the two sides states that the senior Takarazuka Revue member and others, including a producer involved in the management of the theater company's Cosmos Troupe, committed acts of power harassment against the woman.
