Asada Turns Her Back on Reporters to Wipe Tears from Her Eyes after Making Last Comment at Farewell News Conference at Tokyo Hotel

Japanese figure skating Icon Mao Asada, a three-time world champion and silver medalist at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, retired from competition. At her farewell press conference, the 26-year-old beloved skater said what she remembers most is her own record-setting 'perfect' free program performance at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, which made her rank sixth overall after the disappointing 16th finish in the short program. In the long program, Asada successfully landed her trademark triple axel and all other jumps. 'I called up all my strength. I have no regrets,' Asada, who began the sport at the age of five, told the news conference looking back on her career.
