Toshiba Releases Small Photorelays with High Speed Turn-On Time that Help Shorten Test Time for Semiconductor Testers
KAWASAKI, Japan--( BUSINESS WIRE )-- Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation ("Toshiba") has launched " TLP3414S ” and “ TLP3431S ," photorelays housed in the S-VSON4T[1] package that feature a faster turn-on time than Toshiba’s current products[2]. The OFF-state output terminal voltage rating and the ON-state current rating of TLP3414S are 40V/250mA and those of TLP3431S are 20V/450mA. Shipments start today.

Toshiba: small photorelays TLP3414S and TLP3431S that help shorten test time for semiconductor testers (Graphic: Business Wire)
The new photorelays achieve high efficiency optical coupling with improved optical output from the input side infrared-emitting diodes and optimization of photo detectors (photodiode arrays). This realizes a high speed turn-on time, a maximum of 150μs. The turn-on time of TLP3414S is approximately 50% shorter than that of Toshiba’s current product, TLP3414, and that of the TLP3431S is approximately 62% shorter than Toshiba’s current TLP3431.
In addition, ON-state resistance, which affects signal attenuation when the output is turned on (TLP3414S: maximum 3Ω, TLP3431S: maximum 1.2Ω), and output capacitance, which affects high frequency signal leakage when the output is turned off (both TLP3414S and TLP3431S: typical 6.5pF), are equivalent to those of existing Toshiba products[2], and deliver stable signal transmission.
The new products are suitable for pin electronics[3] applications in semiconductor testers, which measure devices under test (DUT) with high accuracy and at high speed while switching signals.
The package uses the small S-VSON4T package, reducing the mounting area by approximately 20% compared to the VSON4 package[4] of Toshiba’s current product. This contributes to the miniaturization of semiconductor testers and others.
Toshiba will continue to provide products that meet the demands for higher performance and faster speeds in semiconductor testers.
