Vietnamese airlines advised to reroute flights amid India-Pakistan conflict
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has instructed Vietnamese carriers to review and adjust their flight operations to avoid the airspace over India and Pakistan, following the recent escalation in military tensions between the two South Asian countries.
The instruction was issued in an official dispatch from CAAV on Thursday, emphasizing that the ongoing conflict could impact the safety and regularity of flights traversing the region.
The CAAV highlighted the importance of closely monitoring developments and proactively assessing potential risks to flight operations.
Airlines are advised to evaluate their current routes and, if necessary, select alternative paths that circumvent affected areas and airports.
The CAAV also cautioned against choosing substitute airports that are either closed or located near conflict zones.
In the event of flight plan changes due to the conflict, airlines must promptly inform affected passengers.
"If any difficulties or obstacles arise during the adjustment of flight routes, airlines should promptly report them to the CAAV for timely solutions," Nhan Dan (People) newspaper cited Do Hong Cam, deputy director of the CAAV, as saying.
Following Pakistan's temporary closure of its airspace from 2:55 am on Wednesday (Vietnam time), national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has adjusted flight paths to ensure safety for its Europe-bound operations.
