Mao Asada missed the Grand Prix series final in Quebec, Canada, because she had to return to Japan after her mother fell into critical condition. Her mother, Kyoko, died of liver cirrhosis at age 48. Asada expressed her determination to carry on training to pursue her 'dream' as a figure skater.
