Standing Hina Dolls, Originated from Floating Hina Dolls in Heian Period, Exhibited in Jippo Room

The 'Hyakudan Hina Matsuri 2024' exhibition of dolls for the Girls' Day festival took place at the Hyakudan Kaidan gallery of Hotel Gajoen Tokyo in the capital's Meguro Ward after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

About 1,300 hina dolls, which families with girls in Japan traditionally display to wish for the girls' health and luck around March 3, the hinamatsuri festival day, were brought into the seven-room Hyakudan Kaidan staircase, a tangible cultural property designated by the Tokyo metropolitan government.

The dolls in the 12th event include not only traditional ones but modern masterpieces even including those with a cat motif.
