Japan's Industrial Output Up 1.7 Pct in June

Tokyo, July 31 (Jiji Press)--Japan's industrial production in June rose 1.7 pct from the previous month, marking the first increase in three months, the industry ministry said in a preliminary report Thursday.
The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 102.9 against the 2020 base of 100. The rise reflected brisk orders for aircraft parts including engines from overseas.
The ministry kept its assessment unchanged, saying that industrial production is moving up and down.
Production increased in eight of the 15 surveyed sectors, including the transport machinery sector and the petroleum and coal products industry.
The other seven sectors posted month-on-month declines, including the chemical industry, where production dropped 4.1 pct due to decreased cosmetics production.
