Temporary Housing Complex in Mashiki Uses Yellow Flags to Confirm Safety of Residents as Part of Efforts to Prevent Lonely Deaths


     A 6.5-magnitude foreshock on April 14 and the 7.3-magnitude main temblor two days later, both of which registered the highest intensity level of 7 on the Japanese scale in Kumamoto Prefecture, killed tens of people, injured more than 1,000 and severely damaged houses, industries and social infrastructure including roads and railway lines in Kumamoto and other parts of Kyushu.
