The Japan Mobility Show took place at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center in the capital's Koto Ward from Oct. 26 to Nov. 5. Transformed from the Tokyo Motor Show, the event was joined by some 500 companies and groups, more than double the number of participating entities at the previous motor show in 2019, showcasing not only conventional vehicles but a variety of future forms of mobility developed by startups and non-automakers, even including a Gundam-like Robot controlled by a human pilot. One of the highlights of the event was the Tokyo Future Tour section. An area in the section shows how new mobility can respond to devastation of a natural disaster. Some 1,112,000 people visited the biennial event, organized chiefly by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. The 2021 show was skipped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
