Vietnam Banh Mi Festival 2025 kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City with global varieties
The third Vietnam Banh Mi Festival held its opening ceremony on Friday evening at Le Van Tam Park in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1, featuring a variety of bread from around the world.
Before that, the festival had opened its doors to visitors on Friday morning.
Nguyen Thi Khanh, president of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, highlighted that the third Vietnam Banh Mi Festival is not only a celebration of Vietnam’s culinary culture but also a platform to showcase it on the global stage.
Throughout the festival, which runs until Monday, visitors will experience a variety of bread from different countries.
Khanh stated at a press conference in February that the festival is expected to attract over 150,000 domestic and international visitors.
The festival impresses visitors not only with its diverse and tasty offerings but also with its eye-catching displays, including a welcoming gate adorned with 1,100 loaves of both real and model banh mi, a boat featuring 100 seafood-inspired banh mi dishes, and a section dedicated to the evolution of banh mi, along with a bamboo road experience area showcasing animal-shaped banh mi.
The festival features 141 booths from banh mi producers and vendors, including offerings from Asia Bakery - Confectionery JSC, a banh mi feast with over 300 dishes paired with coffee, drinks, and Vietnamese tea, and fresh breads from the Sugar Town brand.
French tourist Elodie shared her appreciation for the Vietnamese banh mi, noting its crispy crust, delicious filling, and unique side vegetables, distinguishing it from other types of bread like baguettes and sandwiches.
Australian tourist Archie, who tried a loaf of banh mi with cha (Vietnamese pork rolls), described it as “fantastic” and said he would return to the banh mi festival on Saturday.
Friday's opening ceremony also saw the Australia-Vietnam Trade and Investment Promotion and the Vietnam Bakery Association sign an agreement to organize a banh mi festival in Sydney.
Additionally, 14 banh mi carts were presented to representatives from the Vietnam Women’s Union and the Hau Giang Women’s Union, in an effort to inspire entrepreneurial ventures.
