EC president to visit Vietnam
President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen will pay a visit to Vietnam, said Bruno Jaspaert, chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham).
He noted that a delegation of EuroCham would travel to Brussels this week to attend high-level meetings with EC leaders, laying the groundwork for the upcoming visit of EC president Leyen as well as some EU commissioners to Vietnam in the coming time.
Besides, the EuroCham Whitebook launch ceremony is set to take place in Hanoi on April 11, where EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Interinstitutional Relations and Transparency Maros Sefcovic is expected to participate, reinforcing both sides commitment to advancing trade and investment cooperation.
EuroCham successfully convened its annual general meeting on Thursday last week, bringing together hundreds of members in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to reflect on a year of achievements and elect its 17-member board of directors for the year ahead.
The board consists of nine directly elected members and eight appointed representatives from EuroChams affiliated national business associations.
Jaspaert, CEO of DEEP C Industrial Zones in Vietnam, was re-elected as the chairman of EuroCham.
Jean-Jacques Bouflet from the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam, Nguyen Hai Minh from the Central and Eastern European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, and Erick Contreras, general manager at BASF from the German Business Association were named as the vice-chairs.
Simonetta Di Domenico, Vietnam country manager at Leonardo, was appointed as the secretary general of EuroCham.
Speaking at the meeting, EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier underscored the significance of the EU-Vietnam diplomatic partnership, now in its 35th year, as well as the five-year milestone of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.
Ambassador Guerrier praised the deep collaboration between the EU delegation and EuroCham, which continues to unlock new opportunities for growth and investment.
Founded in 1998, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam has established itself as the unified voice of the European business community in Vietnam, boasting a substantial membership base comprising over 1,400 companies.
