Multiple flights were unable to land at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on Wednesday evening due to an intense thunderstorm in Ho Chi Minh City, forcing several aircraft to circle until weather conditions improved.

According to several carriers, poor weather disrupted numerous incoming flights to the southern metropolis, requiring sudden changes in landing approaches.

Affected flights included VN1828 from Phu Quoc, VN1248 from Pleiku, VN6441 from Hai Phong, VN7145 from Da Nang, VN525 from Shanghai, and VN273 from Hanoi, all which circled for quite some time before receiving clearance to land safely.

The delays created a ripple effect across the domestic flight schedule.

Local budget carrier Vietjet's flight VJ1307 from Hue to Ho Chi Minh City was delayed by over an hour.

Passengers boarding Flight VN137 on the Da Nang-Ho Chi Minh City route experienced a 30-minute delay.

Local airlines advised passengers to stay updated on their flight status via official channels such as websites, mobile apps, and hotlines.
