Share of Female Execs Tops 30 Pct at Sports Federations in Japan

Tokyo, March 6 (Jiji Press)--The percentage of women among board members of national sports federations in Japan stood at 32.7 pct as of Oct. 1 last year, exceeding 30 pct for two years in a row, a survey by the Japan Sport Association, or JSPO, has shown.
It was up 2.5 percentage points from a year before.
Ahead of International Women's Day on Saturday, the association released the results of the survey on the number of female executives at member sports organizations on Wednesday.
The survey was conducted from Dec. 23 last year to Jan. 10, covering all 126 JSPO members, including 68 national sports federations.
The number of national sports federations which achieved the Japan Sport Agency's goal of raising the proportion of female board members to at least 40 pct, increased by seven. However, there were only 23 such federations, or about one-third of the total.
