Da Nang pours over $3.8mn into An Thuong ‘Western Area’ development
Da Nang, the capital city of central Vietnam, has announced a new investment of more than VND100 billion (US$3.8 million) in the second phase of the An Thuong tourist area development project, known as ‘Western Area.’
According to a recent decision by the municipal People's Committee, the second phase of the project will focus on technical infrastructure and landscapes in harmony with the first phase, which is in operation.
The project includes a central square integrated with fitness and recreational facilities, a stage area, tiered seating, a musical water fountain, greenery, outdoor exercise equipment, water and lighting systems, and decorative lighting.
It will also involve the renovation of sidewalks and green spaces along several major streets like Chau Thi Vinh Te, Hoang Ke Viem, Ngo Thi Si, and Mai Thuc Lan.
Additionally, An Thuong 5, 7, and 8 Streets will be widened to 5.5 meters from 3.5 meters.
Infrastructure upgrades will include technical wiring installations for a future security camera system and public Wi-Fi coverage across the entire area.
The project will be implemented during the 2024-27 period, aiming to create more space for cultural events, entertainment, and shopping, both day and night, enhancing the area’s appeal for tourists.
The An Thuong tourist area, popularly known as 'Western Area,’ is located adjacent to My Khe Beach, which has been recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
The neighborhood is known for its vibrant mix of restaurants, hotels, and nightlife, and has become a magnet for international visitors.
The first phase of the An Thuong project started its operation in 2022, focusing on upgrading pedestrian streets, establishing a night market, and connecting with night-time beach activities.
