Japan's Industrial Production Up 2.8 Pct in May

Tokyo, June 28 (Jiji Press)--Japan's industrial production in May rose 2.8 pct from the previous month following a vehicle production resumption, the industrial ministry said Friday.
The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 103.6, against the 2020 base of 100, the ministry said in a preliminary report.
The rise reflected resumed production at Daihatsu Motor Co. after a halt because of its testing irregularities.
The ministry maintained its view that industrial production is on a weak note while fluctuating.
Of the 15 surveyed industries, production rose in 13 sectors. The automobile sector saw an 18.1 pct jump due to Daihatsu's resumed production.
