Japan Household Spending Falls 1.1 Pct in September

   Tokyo, Nov. 8 (Jiji Press)--Spending by Japanese households with two or more members fell 1.1 pct from a year earlier to 287,963 yen on average in September after adjustment for inflation, marking two consecutive months of decline, the internal affairs ministry said Friday.
   Automobile-related expenditures dropped 20.1 pct as fewer customers visited car dealers due to bad weather, with vehicle purchases tumbling about 40 pct.
   Electricity costs climbed 9.1 pct, their first rise in nine months. Increased power consumption amid scorching heat more than offset the effect of subsidies that the government resumed.
