(Update) Nippon Ishin Chief Vows Not to Cooperate with Ishiba Govt

Tokyo, Nov. 10 (Jiji Press)--Nobuyuki Baba, leader of major opposition Nippon Ishin no Kai (Japan Innovation Party), on Sunday pledged not to cooperate with the administration of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
Meeting with Baba at the prime minister's official residence on the day, Ishiba, also president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, sought Nippon Ishin's cooperation in running the government, after the LDP and its Komeito ally lost their combined majority in the House of Representatives in the Oct. 27 general election for the all-important lower chamber of the Diet, the country's parliament.
Baba criticized the LDP for reneging on its agreement with Nippon Ishin on political fund reform measures including the disclosure of the use of research, public relations and accommodation allowances paid to lawmakers.
"We'll put our case-by-case approach on hold," Baba said, telling Ishiba that Nippon Ishin has no plan to cooperate with the administration unless the agreement is fulfilled.
The Ishiba-Baba meeting took place ahead of the start of a special Diet session Monday.
