MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to provide immediate assistance to Filipinos in Israel, a Palace official said on Monday.

According to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, Marcos wanted to make sure that “no one is left behind” amid tension in the Middle East.

“The President's directive to the DFA, DMW, and OWWA is to provide immediate assistance to our fellow Filipinos,” she said at a briefing.

Meanwhile, in a press release, the DMW said 18 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) stranded in Dubai were safely repatriated earlier in the day.

The OFWs were bound for Tel Aviv, Israel, and Amman, Jordan, but were stranded in Dubai due to the temporary shutdown of major airports amid the ongoing conflict in the region.

The DMW said all the repatriated OFWs received financial support through the DMW AKSYON Fund, airport assistance, and other necessary support from the DMW and OWWA.
