MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested two Chinese men for allegedly shooting a Filipino man in Makati City, the Southern Police District (SPD) reported Friday.

In a statement, the SPD identified the suspects as “Xunjun,” 36, and “Liquan,” 44.

According to police, the incident occurred Thursday night in the rear parking lot of a mall along Amorsolo Street in Barangay Pio del Pilar.

“The victim, Filipino national alias Christopher, a 40-year-old male, was inside his black Toyota Fortuner preparing to exit the parking lot when a male assailant suddenly opened fire. Multiple shots hit the vehicle. Fortunately, the victim survived,” the SPD explained.

“The victim’s SUV (sports utility vehicle) sustained four visible bullet impacts: two on the left rear passenger window, one on the front passenger door, and one on the right door frame,” it added.

The SPD said it is still investigating the motive behind the shooting, the suspects’ immigration status, and possible links to organized crime groups.

Authorities recovered a caliber .40 pistol with a magazine, a 9mm submachine gun with two loaded magazines, and four spent cartridge cases during the operation.
