MANILA, Philippines — The country’s agricultural production posted a 5.7 percent growth in the second quarter of 2025, driven by crops and poultry, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

In a report on Wednesday, the statistics agency said the value of production in agriculture and fisheries had reached P437.53 billion in the April to June period.

The value of crops output climbed by 11.3 percent to P244.9 billion, with palay and corn posting double-digit growths. Crops contributed 56 percent to the overall production value.

Poultry output rose by 7 percent to P75.07 billion, accounting for a 17.2-percent share. The PSA recorded improvements in chicken and chicken eggs.

Livestock amounted to P59.60 billion, down 5.9 percent, as hog output decreased by 7.5 percent. It accounted for 13.6 percent of the farm production.

Fisheries also dropped by 4.2 percent to P57.96 billion, equivalent to a 13.2 percent share. /dda
