Marcos arrives in Bangalore

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in Bangalore on Thursday afternoon for the final leg of his five-day state visit to India.

The plane carrying Marcos and the Philippine delegation landed at Kempegowda International Airport at 11:18 a.m. local time (1:48 p.m. Philippine time).

The president is scheduled to attend a series of business meetings for the remainder of the day.

Meanwhile, a sit-down interview, or Kapihan with Media, is set for Friday morning, prior to his return to Manila.

In the first three days of his visit to New Delhi, Marcos and Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed 13 agreements in the areas of defense, science and technology, and tourism.

Marcos also had a separate bilateral meeting with President Droupadi Murmu, where he described his ongoing state visit to India as “one of the most productive and constructive visits” he has ever had.

The last state visit to India by a Philippine president was undertaken by then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in October 2007.

Meanwhile, then-Indian President Ram Nath Kovind undertook a state visit to the Philippines in October 2019.

The Philippines and India are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in November this year. /das
